Recently, Officer Stehlin has been out in the parks with the Sycamore Police Department’s new UTV. As he patrolled the parks and interacted with visitors he even got a chance to hand out several Dog Do’s goodie bags to dogs and their owners who were following ordinances and enjoying the parks responsibly.

Photo – Congratulations Lilia Edwards for being nominated Lifeguard of the Week for a second time this summer! Lilia sets an example of exemplary leadership and service at Sycamore Pool! Her favorite water activity is kayaking and her favorite diving board trick is a running jump dive. Lilia feels the most important thing about being a lifeguard is enforcing rules and knowing how to act in emergency situations to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pool patrons.

Sycamore’s own Truman’s Ridge will bring their high energy, sweet melodied bluegrass to the Sycamore Park District Summer Concert Series on Thursday, July 21. A bit of folk, a hint of jazz, and a touch of swing: this is Chicago style Bluegrass at its finest! The concert starts at 7pm. The Park District is excited for Truman’s Ridge to join the series for the first time and showcase a hometown talent with the beautiful backdrop at the Good Tymes Shelter. They’re a regional band known throughout the Midwest and can even be heard on the radio and internet in the United States and Europe.

Photo – This week’s burger (July 11-17) is sure to pick up any blue mood. Creamy blue cheese is the perfect compliment to an all beef burger and crisp lettuce, tomato and purple onion – savory satisfaction!

Photo – The District is excited to share that Kiwanis Prairie Park has a brand new play structure! If you test it out let us know what you think or share a pic. It’s time to retire the existing equipment so staff will take it down over the next couple weeks. The old stucture is 18 years old and has gotten much ware (and love) from the kids at South Prairie Elementary School.

Photo – Congratulation Sycamore Pool Lifeguard of the Week, Kaitlyn Rease, for setting an example of exemplary leadership and service! Kaitlyn’s favorite thing about Sycamore Pool is swim lessons because she gets to interact with so many fun kids! Her favorite aquatic animal is a clown fish because…Nemo :) and if she could have a superpower it would be super strength.

Photo – This week, the District recognizes its Pool Managers! Manager Derek and his Assistant Managers make sure day-to-day operations run swimmingly by training and coordinating lifeguards, assisting patrons and monitoring the facility. Here are the reasons they enjoy being a manager at YOUR Sycamore Pool! Derek Stenberg is proud to play a part in helping young adults grow into mature, responsible lifeguards. Drew Moulton is proud to be able to save lives. Jessica Mollman enjoys the outdoors and interacting with the patrons and staff. Dom Lesniewski loves the excitement and anticipation of the pool environment – knowing that at any moment something will happen and someone will need his help.
