Our Mission:
We at DeKalb County Online have made it our mission to continue providing up-to-date, accurate, and nonpartisan digital media news outlet for the benefit of DeKalb County IL and the residents thereof, while improving the tools with which we provide this news.
About DeKalb County Online:
DeKalb County Online (DCO) began as an internet news service pioneered by Mac Mcintyre of eWorldLinx in 2009. Since it’s inception, DCO has evolved from a small online news outlet to a multimedia destination. DCO now has news, social media, business listings, weather, online shopping, and more. Supplementing that information is a business directory allowing local businesses a place to supply the community with information and knowledge about what they offer to the community.
After Mac retired, DeKalb County Online was then continued by Michael Embry of FunME events in 2018. Michael has continued the mission of DeKalb County Online, as well as bringing as much information to the residents of DeKalb County on the politics affecting our community. He brought DeKalb County Online to Facebook as well, creating another avenue for the community to connect and discuss the local happenings in DeKalb County.
The DeKalb County Online torch was passed once again in 2020 and is now under the management of David Galica at ARMOR. David has added to DeKalb County Online’s mission, promising to continue to update and implement new technologies to continue to grow the website, the community, and offer new tools and ideas to ensure that the mission of DeKalb County Online is continued and that the community benefits from it.
The original book worm logo from the beginning eventually was rebranded to an iconic lotus flower. The reason behind this change was to create an icon that represented the important systems of DeKalb Country. These 5 systems represented by the 5 leaves of the icon of the lotus flower stand for Education, Industry, Agriculture, Community, and Accountability.
