Sanan named interim controller

Northern Illinois University has selected Shyree Sanan as interim controller, effective May 1.

Sanan joined NIU in 2001 and has 14 years of progressively increased levels of responsibility as accountant, business manager, assistant to the VP for Research & Innovation Partnerships, treasurer of Northern Illinois Research Foundation and as a member of the Budget Core Team.

In 2013 she received the Outstanding Service Award demonstrating outstanding service and making significant contributions to the university and her community. Sanan has a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Master of Business Administration, both from NIU, and is a Certified Public Accountant. Sanan will report directly to Vice President for Administration and Finance Alan Phillips.

The university will initiate a search in the near future to permanently fill the controller position.
