Over twenty Founders teachers volunteered behind the counter on Thursday, January 24, at the DeKalb McDonald’s located on Lincoln Highway, where they served students and their families in a fundraiser for Founders School.
Mrs. Robyn Timmerman, Assistant Principal at Founders School, worked the Drive-thru and was at the event the entire night talking with the families while dressed as a Pie. Teachers Schimbke, Bell, and Carlson sold pies during the night and did a fabulous job raising funds for Founders PTO. Sonia Enriquez worked hard making ice cream treats.
Megan Scott, Founders PTO Co-Vice President, coordinated the entire event with McDonald’s. In addition, Founders PTO President, Megan Jackson, and Founders PTO Treasurer, Kendra Moore, were all at the event the entire night and worked extremely hard alongside the Founders Staff. The Founders community displayed an amazing network of support for their school, especially to come to support the school in the bitter cold weather.
John Lardas, Owner/Operator of the DeKalb McDonald’s, donated a case of apple pies to the school for sale at the event. The proceeds from the sale of 161 pies went directly to benefit Founders. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night sales were also donated directly to Founders PTO, which plans to use the money for field trips and buses. Lardas and Yanni Management were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.
“We are proud to serve the families of the Founders Elementary community through the McTeacher’s Night event,” Lardas said. “McTeacher’s Night is part of McDonald’s larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community. In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community.”
Inspired by the success of McTeacher’s Night, Yanni Management has set their sights on partnering with other schools in the DeKalb area.
“Assistant Principal Timmerman and everyone who rolled up their sleeves in support of this event is the fabric that strengthens our community,” said Lardas.
