DeKalb, IL — The DeKalb Farmers Market is proud to announce it has been selected as a recipient of funding through Compeer Financial’s Compeer Giving program. As part of a larger initiative distributing more than $69,000 to 71 farmers markets across Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin, this grant supports efforts to strengthen connections between local farmers and the community.
Farmers markets play a vital role in bridging rural producers with urban consumers, and the DeKalb Farmers Market continues to serve as a hub for fresh, locally grown products and meaningful community engagement.
“Spring marks the return of farmers markets and the opportunity to bring people together around local food and agriculture,” said Karen Schieler, Manager of Compeer Giving at Compeer Financial. “We’re pleased to support markets that help farmers share their passion, increase awareness of how food is grown, and contribute to the vitality of rural communities.”
The DeKalb Farmers Market welcomes thousands of visitors each season and provides a platform for local growers, makers and food vendors to connect directly with customers. This year’s grant funding comes at an especially exciting time, as the market expands its offerings with three extended market days from 12–6 p.m. on June 18, July 16 and August 13, giving the community even more opportunities to shop, connect and enjoy the market experience.
With support from Compeer Giving, the market plans to enhance its marketing and outreach efforts as well as engaging activities, increasing visibility and attracting both new visitors and vendors.
The DeKalb Farmers Market is one of 20 markets in Illinois selected for this year’s program and is part of a network of markets serving more than 2.3 million visitors annually across the region.
The market opens for the 2026 season on June 4 and will be open Thursdays, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., through September 3 apart from extended hours 12-6 p.m. on June 18, July 16, and August 13. Entrance is free and open to the public.
