Feed’em Soup Community Project today announced a partnership with Target in recognition of its efforts in providing food, encouragement and support to the people of DeKalb County. The grant will be used to help bring the kitchen up to code at the group’s headquarters located at 122 South First Street, DeKalb as well as purchase appliances, utensils and other kitchen tools to stock their new kitchen once complete.
This grant is part of ongoing efforts by Target to strengthen families and communities throughout the country. Since 1946, Target has given 5 percent of its income to communities. Today, that giving equals more than $3 million every week.
“At Target, our local grants are making a difference in communities across the country,” said Laysha Ward, President, Community Relations, Target. “We’re proud to partner with Feed’em Soup Community Project as part of our ongoing commitment to strengthen communities where our guests and team members live and work.”
About Feed’em Soup Community Project
Feed’em Soup Is a 501(c)3 nonprofit providing meals, encouragement and support currently at the First Lutheran Church of Dekalb on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 5pm to 7pm. Meals are open to the public regardless of need and donation baskets are available for those wishing to make contributions. Feed’em Soup was founded in early 2010 and has swiftly grown since its inception now feeding around 150 people per meal. In May of this year, the group partnered with The Church In Dekalb to restore the kitchen formerly belonging to Matthew Boones restaurant. The new location, dubbed “Headquarters” requires extensive repairs to bring it up to code and health department standards. With work well under way, Feed’em hopes the location will be operational this fall.
