It’s not too early to think about holiday gifts for friends and family. The 24th annual Wonderful World of Christmas Craft Show is a good place to start shopping. The show is this Sunday, Nov. 11 from 10-4 at the Genoa-Kingston High School just west of downtown Genoa on Route 72.
With more than 100 crafters and businesses displaying and selling wares, starting and finishing shopping in one day is a real possibility. There will be many new booths this year. Vendors come from more than 15 Illinois communities and Wisconsin. Just a few of items available include American doll clothes, sand art, bowling ball decorations, jewelry, wood craft, string puppets, wind chimes and holiday decor. Bake sales, food booths and more than 300 grab bag gifts for children and adults will be available as well.
Santa will arrive at 11 a.m. and stay until 1:30 p.m. to hear special wishes. Bring your camera!
Admission is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children, with more than 100 chances to win door prizes. A 50/50 cash drawing will take place at the end of the show. This event is sponsored by the Genoa Community Women’s Club to benefit the Genoa-Kingston High School scholarship fund. Scholarships are awarded each year to deserving graduating seniors. Last year, four students were awarded $1,000 each.
The club also donates money throughout the year to area programs and individual families in need of help. It’s not too late to reserve booth space. To reserve a space or for more information about the show call Mary at 815-784-2115.
Members of the club are excited to celebrate the club’s 65th year. Monthly meetings are conducted at 7 p.m., the fourth Tuesday of the month in the community room on the lower level of Resource Bank in Genoa. The club welcomes all women from Genoa, Kingston and surrounding communities to make a difference. For more information about the club, call Nancy at 815-761-0515.
