Sycamore Pumpkin Fest is this week! Tons of fun, all week long, starting with the pumpkin check-in from 4-9pm Wednesday, October 24th and culminating in the most awesome, Sycamore Pumpkin Parade, on Sunday, October 28th. The Grand Opening / Giant Cake Cutting Ceremony (Cake donated by Brown’s County Market) will be on the Courthouse Lawn at 5pm Wednesday.
On Thursday, October 25th the Teen Carnival opens at Sacramento and State Streets from 5pm to 10pm. There will be a $20 unlimited ride special from 5 to 9pm on the adult carnival rides only. This year the Kiddie Carnival will be open at Somonauk and Elm Streets on Thursday also from 5pm to 11pm. There will also be Slightly Scary Stories for 3 years to Adult at the Sycamore Library at 7pm.
Friday, October 26th, come see the Lions’ Pumpkin Display on the Courthouse Lawn. The United Methodist Church Craft Show (food served), 160 Johnson Ave. will be open Friday and Saturday, noon to 5:30pm. There will be a Heartland Blood drive on South Maple Street from 1pm to 5pm Friday. Scary Stories in the Cemetery program presented by the Sycamore Library staff and friends, at 6 pm Friday in the Elmwood Cemetery.
The Kiddie Carnival will be open at Somonauk and Elm Streets from 5pm to 11pm. The Teen Carnival at Sacramento and State will be open from 5 pm to 11pm as well.
The Rotary Pancake Breakfast will be at the Federated Church from 7-11am Saturday the 27th. Come see the Lions Club Giant Pumpkin Weigh-in on the Courthouse Lawn at 10am. There’s also a Sycamore Golf Club Scramble at the Sycamore Golf Course at 10am. (815-895-3884 ). There will be a Historic Homes Walk between 10am and 5pm. Tickets are $20 each (under 12 free) and are available at the Sycamore History Museum and at each home on the walk. The Autumn Craft & Treasures Market hosted by the Sycamore Music Boosters will be hosted at the Sycamore High School from 9am to 5pm Saturday and 9am-4pm Sunday.
Watch the Kiwanis Pie Eating Contest on the Courthouse Lawn at 4 pm Saturday. The Teen Carnival at Sacramento and State and the Kiddie Carnival at Somonauk and Elm will both be open from 10am to 11pm and are having a $20 unlimited ride special from noon to 4pm.
Enjoy a Beef Burger Luncheon at the Bethel Assembly of God Church, 131 West Elm St. from 11am to 6pm Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday. The Magician Dave Hill performs from 1 to 4pm Saturday, doing strolling performances in food courts, in the Somonauk and State Street areas.
Sunday October 28th kicks off with the Sycamore Chamber’s 10,000 Meter Road Run starting at the Armory at 9:35 am. The Teen Carnival and Kiddie Carnival will be open from 10am to close. There will be a $20 unlimited ride special from 10am to 2pm.
The DeKalb County Shrine Club will be serving pork chop sandwiches 10am to 3pm. St. Mary’s Church Food Booth will be at Waterman and Somonauk St. from 11am to 3pm Sunday. The St. Peter’s Church Food Booth will be at 218 Somonauk St. from 11am to 3pm. Stilt Juggler Jason Kollum and Magic Matt will appear downtown and along the parade route 11am to 1pm.
The famous Sycamore Pumpkin Festival Parade runs Somonauk – Elm – California – State & Main Streets. The Parade kicks off at 1pm. Click Here for Parade Page with Map. The Sycamore Park District will hold a Halloween Costume Contest and Entertainment at the Sycamore Middle School after the parade FREE, from 4pm to 6pm (ages 2-12).
