The Sycamore Police Department has received a couple of phone calls regarding possible scams happening once again. Businesses have received a call or message from someone claiming to be from Com Ed. The caller claims Com Ed will shut off its electricity in 30 minutes if the business does not pay a bill immediately. The caller then offers to take a credit card payment by phone.
Again, this appears to be a scam similar to something that occurred last Spring. Please do not give them any information and do not call them back.

this has been going on for quite some time here so just hang up on them use your head
They called me this morning at 8:20am. I answered and they said 3 sentences and I cut the guy off and started yelling at him for calling that early when my kids are sleeping. It wasnt even a comed number on my caller id so i knew it was B.s.
Can’t tell you how many scam calls we ignore, and we get a lot, on both of our cells and our landline. We don’t answer calls that are not recognized by caller id. If it’s important they can leave a message.
They called me yesterday… I had a lot of fun with him. He ended hanging up on me ððð

Don’t answer calls you do not recognize the number. Simple as that!
