Kishwaukee College is hosting its annual College Night on Wednesday, November 3, from 6:30 – 8pm in the College gymnasium with a special presentation on financing a college education at 6pm in Jenkins Auditorium.
Each year, the college partners with area high schools to host this opportunity to give prospective students a chance to comparison shop post-high school programs, colleges, and universities while gathering information on academic programs, admissions requirements, and financial aid for several schools at once. At this year’s event, representatives from over 60 institutions, including colleges, universities, military programs, and trade schools, will be on hand to provide informational materials, applications, and answer questions. College shoppers will have access to representatives from Illinois schools as well as several out-of-state institutions from Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The event is also recommended for Kishwaukee College students who are preparing to transfer to a four-year university.
One of College Night’ s most popular events is the financial aid presentation with a question and answer session with Pam Wagener, Kishwaukee College Coordinator of Financial Aid. The financial aid presentation has been widely attended at College Night in recent years, leaving standing room only in the auditorium. This year, the College’ s Media Services department will once again broadcast the presentation and question and answer session to a near-by classroom to accommodate all interested parents and students.
The Career Technologies division at Kishwaukee College will be holding an Open House in the A-300 Lounge, directly across from the south side of the gym where College Night will be held. The Career Technologies Open House will feature representatives from the division’ s programs that offer one-and two-year certificates and degrees in occupations in which student may enter the workforce immediately after program completion. Programs offering information during the Open House include Automated Engineering Technology, Automotive, Aviation Flight, Building Construction Technology, Collision Repair Technology, Computer-Aided Design Technology, Computer Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Diesel Power Technology, Electronics, Equine Science, Horticulture, Marketing and Management, Office Systems, and Welding. Students may also talk to representatives of transfer degrees that are offered in the Career Technologies division: Accounting, Business, and Agriculture.
In addition, the Engineering-Mathematics-Science Academy (EMSA) at Kishwaukee College will be holding an Open House at 6pm in the Conference Center Dining Room, Room A-273. EMSA is a program for area high school seniors interested in engineering or other math/science based majors. By enrolling in EMSA, seniors take a series of calculus and physics courses at Kishwaukee College to earn up to 26 hours of college credit while finishing high school. The Open House is for parents and juniors who are currently enrolled in pre-calculus at their high school.
