Our Kishwaukee is an amazing river! It provides recreation for residents of DeKalb from fishing to canoeing. The Kishwaukee River is also home to 28 endangered, threatened, or watch-listed species. A river this important deserves some love!
Join the DeKalb Park District on National Public Lands Day this coming Saturday, September 26th at 9am, to help remove trash and debris from this community treasure. We’ll partner with students from NIU and the Outdoor Adventure program as we meet at NIU East Lagoon and divide into river cleaning teams.
After the cleanup enjoy a free BBQ back at the East Lagoon! The East Lagoon on the NIU campus is located at Lincoln Hwy. and Castle Drive. Good shoes and gloves are suggested. Learn more about all the DeKalb Park District has going on on their website now.
