Setting Up the Perfect Home Theater Speaker System
When you’re ready to set up the perfect speaker system for your home theater, it’s a good idea to take certain considerations into account before you dive in. The first, and most basic, is how much time you plan to invest in your audio. If you’re looking to avoid any complexity, it’s often a good idea to buy a pre-matched surround sound speaker system. Pre-matched systems are great because such systems are usually matched to work well with each other. However, if you go with a more custom system, then there are a few other considerations.
Components
For a true surround sound experience, you’ll need to set up speakers at different angles as well as at least one subwoofer for sound depth. Usually this is done by setting up two speakers flanking the TV and two speakers flanking behind the viewer. (The subwoofer does well in different areas.) Other possible extras include in-ceiling speakers or Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, which provide sound that is above or beneath the viewer.
How and Where To Set Up Your Speakers
If your home theater will be in an area that has multiple uses, it may be wise to consider speaker systems that will blend in well with the rest of the room, such as bookshelf speakers and others. With multi-use areas there are a variety of options to consider, such as in-wall speakers, custom flat-panel speakers, and in-ceiling speakers which can enhance home theater sound without being intrusive.
