The City of DeKalb Police Department and The Aurora Sportsmen’s Club will be hosting Clays for Camp Power Tournament and Shoot to raise funds for Camp Power on September 30th, 2017 from 8:00am – 4:00pm. The Camp was developed in 2014 as a free, collaborative summer program offered to children and their families living in University Village housing development. After the program’s first year, there was a 26% decrease in Part 2 crimes. After the second year, there was a 40% reduction in overall crime, a 13% reduction in calls for service by Police, and a 49% reduction in arrests. The most positive outcome has been an enhanced relationship between the children and the police officers.
Now entering its fourth year of operations, there is a need to extend Camp Power to other neighborhoods in DeKalb. The goal of this event is to provide funding to support that expansion.
This fun event offers sporting clays and the opportunity to participate in side event challenges, a picnic lunch, refreshments along the course, and the chance to win raffle and silent auction items. The event caters to those new to the sport as well as veterans, so gather a squad or sign up as an individual and register today to choose your preferred start time. Walk-ins are also welcome. Participants will need to bring eye and ear protection.

There will be three “flights” going out, at 8 am, 10:30 am, and 1:00 pm, early participants will have coffee and doughnuts, and a lunch will be available from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. Please bring cash or a check to register for the event.
This would be a great group event for friends as well. So please invite others to join!
Camp Power served thousands of meals, provided children with a host of educational and recreational opportunities they may have never experienced before, and also created lasting relationships.
The ability to build a relationship and change a life outcome are inspiring, and knowing that we as a united community can make a difference here in our own neighborhoods is real, not just a talking point. For the past two years, this ten-week program has been generously funded entirely by community based donations and grants, as well as many of our community stakeholders committing their staff to facilitate the program’s mission, relationship build, and embrace one another as respected members of our community.
