Anyone looking to get more involved on campus or in the community is invited to stop by the Diversity Fun Fair from noon until 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, in the Chick Evans Field House.
The event will feature more than 20 organizations from NIU and the surrounding community. The groups will provide information on who they serve, what they do and how to get involved, said Ryan Blackburn, president of the NIU Golden Key Honor Society, which is co-hosting the event with the NIU Student Association.
Among those groups that will be at the fair are We Care, RAMP, Illinois Lakes Management Association, Southeast Asian Studies Club, Ebony women, NIU CAUSE, Judson Fellowship, Consumer Advocacy Council of Dekalb County, Voluntary Action Center and the Walcamp Outdoor Ministries and Retreat Center.
“We wanted to increase awareness of all of the different organizations on and around campus,” Blackburn said. “It is an opportunity to learn about what this community offers, find opportunities to volunteer or even discover services that you may need. We want this to be an opportunity for everyone to get in one space, talk to each other and hopefull it will be a catalyst for future endeavors.”
The event is open to both NIU students and community members.
