DeKalb Township Honors Hope Haven Executive Director for Twenty Years of Service

Lesly Wicks, executive director of Hope Haven Homeless Shelter, was honored with a proclamation from the DeKalb Township Board of Trustees for her 20 years of service and leadership.

Caroline Lowery, Chair of the Hope Haven Board, presented Lesly with the award at the August board meeting.

Hope Haven provides meals, shelter, skill and employment training, counseling, and many other services to homeless individuals and families in DeKalb County. Lesly Wicks has led the organization from its early days as a small nightly shelter facility to one of the most successful and respected homeless shelters in the state of Illinois.

“DeKalb County is fortunate to have someone with Lesly’s skills, dedication, and commitment to those who are homeless. The Hope Haven Board of Directors are grateful for her service to Hope Haven and to the County.” Said Mrs. Lowery, when she presented the award on behalf of the DeKalb Township.

Eric Johnson, DeKalb Township Supervisor, authored the proclamation and asked Ms. Lowery to present it.
