The Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb is currently accepting applications for safe, decent affordable Low Income Public Housing (1, 2, and 3 bedrooms) for persons who qualify with two (2) or more local preferences. Applications for the Low Income Public Housing are available on line at their website www.dekcohousing.com. Paper applications are available as a reasonable accommodation.
Our Low Income Public Housing properties are located in DeKalb, Sycamore, and Shabbona.
Our apartments range in size and include carpeting, appliances, air conditioners, and smoke alarms. Rent is based on 30% of monthly-adjusted income, with allowances made for medical expenses. Residents are responsible for their own telephone; all apartments are cable ready. Utilities vary for properties.
Special features include on-site maintenance and management staff, convenient parking, security cameras at all properties, community rooms, laundry facilities, handicap accessible units, and computer labs at Taylor Street Plaza and Civic Apartments. Bus services at or near each property within DeKalb and Sycamore.
