Do you know where your food comes from? Do you wish you could get more of it from local farmers? Well, here’s a chance for the whole family to connect with the farmers producing local foods in DeKalb County. The Illinois Extension office for Boone, DeKalb and Ogle Counties is hosting a DeKalb County Farm Stroll this Sunday, September 17th from 12 – 5 pm.
The Farm Stroll is a FREE, self-guided driving tour of multiple farms holding open houses in DeKalb County. Diverse family farms producing local food, fiber, and fun will be opening their farm gates to the public so you can learn about how they produce everything from apples to zucchini.
See where your food comes from! There is no entrance fee for the Stroll: but bring cash to purchase produce and for other available activities at the farms. Dress for a farm visit in all-weather clothes, closed-toe shoes, a hat, and bring water. See brochure of locations below.
Follow DeKalb County Farm Stroll on the Northern Illinois Farm Stroll Facebook Page or the DeKalb County Farm Stroll Facebook event page for up-to-date information, and more. Or contact University of Illinois Extension at 815-732-2191 with any additional questions. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, please contact the local Extension office in Sycamore at 815-758-8194.
