County residents in DeKalb and Genoa may bring in old computers and other outdated electronics to the collection this Saturday, January 4th, 2014. Electronics will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. until 11 a.m. (or until the trailer space is filled) at the City of DeKalb Parking Lot located at South Fourth St. and Grove in downtown DeKalb (kitty-corner from the Municipal Building) and at Genoa City Hall’s East Lot between 12:30 – 2pm on Saturday.
County residents can bring in computers, keyboards, mouse, fax machines, cell phones, telephones, game consoles, scanners, monitors, TV’s, printers, stereos, speakers, DVD and VCR players and other electronics. Basically, anything that plugs in to a wall socket or has a battery is accepted. Also accepted will be cardboard and plastic containers or packaging materials, all types of batteries and scrap metal. This collection program is free and for DeKalb County residents and businesses only.
The Electronics Recycling schedule for DeKalb County in 2014 will be the same as in 2013 except the village of Sandwich has changed their collection location to 750 Duvick Ave., at the base of the water tower. The 2014 schedule is:
First Saturday/month at DeKalb City lot #3 at the corner of 9-11 a.m. of each Month* – Grove and South Fourth Streets
First Saturday/month at Genoa City Hall East Lot 12:30-2:30 p.m.of each Month*
Second Saturday/month in Sandwich at 750 Duvick Ave. 12:30-2:30 p.m. of each Month*
Third Saturday Sycamore Public Works Building, 475 N. Cross St. 9-11 a.m. of each Month*
Fourth Saturday- Waterman City lot on Route 30 9-11 a.m. (even numbered months only)
*Except December. There will be NO collections in December
The Electronics Collection program is being sponsored by the De Kalb County Health Department Solid Waste Management Program and the De Kalb County Farm Bureau.
