Bockman’s Auto Care was founded with values that have been carried over from its modest beginnings to its industrious present day.
Chuck Bockman of O’Dell, Illinois, opened his first service station in Peotone, Illinois, and eventually relocated to DeKalb in 1964. This first location, on the corner of 1st Street and Lincoln Avenue, offered only a few essential services such as gas, oil changes and tire repair, but became known throughout the area for their dedication to their customers.
As their reputation grew, so did Bockman’s business. They relocated to 7th Street and Lincoln Highway, a much larger and more comprehensive facility that offered more services and capabilities while still retaining the family-owned atmosphere that customers had grown to trust.
Bockman’s Auto Care is now fondly remembered throughout DeKalb County for its service to the community, attracting the patronage of local residents as well as travelers passing through who were recommended to Bockman’s, including the legendary Joe Dimaggio.
A story that has Bockman’s feeling especially proud occurred in 1966 when the Chicago Bears would practice in DeKalb County and George Hallas would come into the shop to just have coffee, read the paper and enjoy the quiet atmosphere.
Currently located in Sycamore on 2158 Oakland Drive, Bockman’s Auto Care continues their traditions of service and professionalism under the leadership of the current owner, Jon Bockman, Chuck’s son.
Bockman’s Auto Care combines their strong heritage spanning nearly five decades with highly accredited technicians ready to provide the best possible service for a new generation of customers. We welcome you to become a Bockman’s valued client. Be sure to stop in an say “hi” to Jon and Sam, who takes care of our front desk.
