This Sunday, September 24, the Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary Club will host their inaugural “TruckTober Fest”, a fundraising event to benefit their new Community Grant for Children, Youth, and Families. TruckTober Fest will be held outside in the parking lot of Faranda’s Banquet Center located at 302 Grove Street in DeKalb from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. The community is invited and encouraged to attend to enjoy a variety of Food Truck vendors including Sycamore Country Store and Catering, Tinez Tacos, Lukulos, and Betty Jeans Sole Food. Beer will be provided by Faranda’s, and you’ll find family friendly activities including a Bouncy House, face painting and more, and fun music. There is no admission charge but donations will be accepted the day of the event.
John Jencks, a Rotary member serving on the TruckTober Fest Event Committee comments, “The Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary club focuses on local community service. We wanted to host a family-friendly event that everyone can enjoy to help raise funds to benefit our newly established Community Grant. After several brainstorming sessions, our committee is excited to bring this inaugural event to DeKalb.”
Marshall Boyle, current President of the Rotary Club adds, “All proceeds raised at this event will help to support the Rotary Club’s recurring Community Grant for Children, Youth, and Families. We’re pleased to announce this year’s 2017 grant awardees are the DeKalb County Community Gardens and the DeKalb County Youth Services Bureau. Our Rotary Club continues to look for opportunities to make a difference in our community and our goal is to continue to offer this grant in the future to local organizations who make a difference in children’s lives.”
“We hope the community will come out for an afternoon of great food and drink, music, and fun for the whole family in support and to raise funds for our Community Grant for Children, Youth, and Families! We look forward to seeing everyone there!” comments Rotary and TruckTober Fest Committee member David Dosier.
