DeKalb residents and businesses that spend extra time and effort on their holiday decorations will have a chance to be recognized this season. The City of DeKalb’s Citizens’ Community Enhancement Commission will be accepting nominations for its Lights of Distinction Program until Friday, December 5 at 5 p.m. Nominations approved by the City will be displayed on the City’s Website and on the City’s Facebook page. Award winners will be recognized at the City Council meeting on January 12 at 6 p.m.
The Lights of Distinction Program was created by the Citizen’s Community Enhancement Commission in 2009. The program is an outlet to recognize residents and businesses in DeKalb whose holiday decorations are considered exceptional by other community members.
“We promote this program because it lets everyone take pride in the City’s appearance,” said Commission Chair Susan Johnson. “It is an important part of what this group is about.”
The nomination form can be downloaded here. Nominations may be submitted via email to tammey.higgins@cityofdekalb.com or delivered to the DeKalb City Manager’s Office, 200 S. Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
