Children’s Community Theatre presents Broadway’s timeless classic musical that whisks you away to a place where dreams are born and no one ever grows up! The high-flying TONY Award-winning musical has been performed around the world and delighted audiences for 60 years. It tells the story of Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick Tinkerbell who visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and with a sprinkle of pixie dust begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates, and of course the villainous Captain Hook. Featuring the iconic songs “I’m Flying,” “I’ve Gotta Crow,” “I Won’t Grow Up,” and “Never Never Land,” this is the perfect show the perfect show for the child in all of us who dreamed of soaring high and never growing up.
Swash-buckling pirates, sword fights and flying children will all add to the excitement of Children’s Community Theatre’s presentation of Peter Pan, this weekend and next, March 14-15 and March 20-22 at the Egyptian Theatre in DeKalb.
This production of the beloved Broadway classic boasts a cast of more than 100 talented local actors. It tells the classic story of Peter Pan, a boy who can fly and never grows up. He spend spends his never-ending childhood leading his band of Lost Boys through adventures on the island of Neverland, where they battle pirates and Indians. When Pan brings Wendy Darling and her brothers, John and Michael from London to join him in Neverland, Wendy becomes “mother” to the Lost Boys, entangling herself and her brothers in the battles against the evil Captain Hook.
The show features classic songs like “I’m Flying,” “I’ll Never Grow Up,” and “I Gotta Crow.” It is also sprinkled with magic, including elaborate sets and a cast that literally flies.
