One of the funner golf outings on the slate for 2015 is Jack Carpenter’s Breaking 80 held Thursday July 30th at the Kishwaukee Country Club. A shotgun start begins at 1pm on one of the nicer 18 hole golf courses in northern Illinois.
The course’s original nine holes were designed by Thomas Bendalow, a Scottish-American who has also been credited with designing 600 golf courses in his 35-year career, including Medinah Country Club, the Atlanta Athletic Club, and French Lick Resort. The “back nine” (holes 8-16) were designed by David Gill.
There’s a $1,000 cash prize and a nice live auction afterwards. Auction items include golf clubs from David Paeglow’s golf shop and Diamond Tour Golf, as well as Blackhawks tickets from CPS, Inc, Golf Club travel bags from Copy Service, gift certificates from local restaurants and salons (Dolce Vita, Studio One, Buffalo Wild Wings, Fatty’s), and the top item is a 4 day, 3 night stay at a Wisconsin Dells waterfront condominium with a foursome package for golf for the Canyon course at the Chula Vista Resort ($800.00) value.
The golf outing is to benefit the Fox Valley Older Adults Services (FVOAS) based in Sandwich but serving DeKalb, LaSalle, Kendall and Kane counties, with Adult Day Service sites in Sandwich, DeKalb and Aurora. The mission of FVOAS, a non-profit senior services agency, is to:
• Help seniors to remain in their own homes
• Improve and enrich vital, independent living
• Enhance dignity and self-respect
• Encourage participation in community life
The shotgun start begins at 1pm on Thursday, July 30. Golfers will be paired in threesomes. The cost is $85 per person. To register stop out at the country club or call
