(DeKalb) – Attend a beginner workshop at the DeKalb Public Library that will guide you through repairing your personal books to ensure their longevity for the future. In this workshop, hosted on Monday, April 13, you will learn how to assess damage and perform simple repairs to books from your personal collection. We will also briefly cover how to test and store delicate items in an archival manner. Information will also be provided on how to photocopy a missing page from a library transfer to tip in.
Repairs we will cover:
Torn pages, aligning text
Tightening hinges
Tipping in a loose page
Book corner reinforcement
Erasing pencil
Preventing water damage
Please bring a worn book from home to be assessed/repaired in the workshop. This workshop is not intended to repair current library materials. This program is intended for teens and adults and no registration is required. It will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the lower-level Zimmerman Meeting Room.
