The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office is investigating a one vehicle crash on Route 30 west of Waterman on 3/30/15 at about 1:09pm. The vehicle, a 2008 Chevy Silverado, was being pursued by the Hinckley Police Department after failing to stop for the Officer. The department received a complaint about cargo falling off of the truck. The truck was observed swerving after the cargo fell off the truck.
Hinckley Police Department will be investigating any traffic violations. After the crash the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Telecommunications center received a dispatch from the Yorkville Police Department that the vehicle was reported stolen from their jurisdiction.
The truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control and swerved towards the railroad tracks on the south side of Route 30. The truck came to a rest on the tracks. The railroad was immediately notified to stop any trains. The driver had a seat belt on and airbags deployed. The driver, Brian Nord, age 35, last of Yorkville, Il. was pronounced dead at the scene.
