The DeKalb Unitarian Universalist of DeKalb will hold two open mics a month beginning in March. The first open mic night will be Wednesday March 12th starting at 6:30pm. The events are free community events open to everyone.
“We have so many talented artists, poets, and musicians in DeKalb, we wanted to provide another venue for them to share their talent with others.” Dan Kenney, event organizer with Nathan Detteman, said.”We want to do all we can to support them, we hope others feel the same way and turn out to support local arts.”
Everyone who has a talent they would like to share are invited to attend. Others who would like to enjoy the music or poetry are invited to attend the free open to the public events. There will also be snacks, coffee, tea and other beverages available.
The other open mic nights are scheduled for Wednesdays, 6:30pm on March 26, April 9th, April 23rd, May 14th, and May 28th. The organizers of the event welcome performers of all ages to participate. NIU students are welcome, high school students, people of all ages who would like to share their abilities with a wider audience.
