On Monday, April 14, the NIU Observatory will be observing the total lunar eclipse that occurs that night. Beginning at 8:00pm in NIU’s Faraday Hall Room 144 there will be a presentation entitled “All About Eclipses.” Following this at 8:30pm there will be a talk called “Learn the Spring Constellations!” Both talks will be presented by NIU Observatory manager and astrophysicist Matt Wiesner.
At 9:00pm participants will gather at the fountains to the east of Davis Hall to observe the constellations (weather permitting). From 9:30pm until 6:00am the next morning the NIU Observatory on the 9th floor of Davis Hall will be open to facilitate observing of the total lunar eclipse. All events are free and are open to everyone. For questions, call (815) 753-1305 or e-mail observatory@niu.edu.
