Madrigal singing was brought to England from Italy in the 16th century. The SHS Madrigal Troupe will reenact this royal Renaissance banquet as it transforms the hall into an English castle, complete with a royal court, troubadours, mistress of the house, jester, beggars, pages and instrumentalists.
“The kids have been working hard. The audience is in for a real treat”, said Madrigals director, Drayton Eggleson.
Members of this year’s Madrigal royal court are Cassidy Meerman, Sara Diemer, Taylor Kloster, Kaytie Rivkin, Bridget Johnson, Miranda VanWienen, Laura Knuth, Brigid Crawford, Dominic Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Alex Riley, Ian Lovell, Ian Findley, Shawn Wolf, Dustin King, and Mason Bross.
Other troupe members include Troubadours (Lucy Hallwell-Smith, Maddie White, Emily Flower, Victoria Smith, Teagan Overhaug, Caroline Corr, Haley Tyrrell, and Drew Moulton); Beggars (Ashley Finnell, Val Heldt, Daniel Bautista, Becca Roby, Riley Weaver); Page/ Town Crier (Nicky Startz), the Jesters (Ashlyn Gardner and Jeanette Carroll).
