In early, 2016, the Sycamore Fire Department applied for a grant from the EnbridgeSafe Community program. The Enbridge Safe Community program offers grants to first responder organizations located in communities that host Enbridge operations. Launched in 2002 as the “Enbridge 9-11 Fund,” the Safe Community program has invested more than $5.7 million in North American emergency responder organizations, including police and sheriff departments, firefighters and emergency medical services. The program helps underwrite equipment acquisitions or training that would help organizations better prepare to respond in the event of an emergency.
The grant proposal requested to fund communications equipment that will enhance firefighter safety and survival on the fire ground as well as increase the safety and capability when our first responders serve as part of a required two out group during interior structural firefighting or when they are designated as a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) on the active fire ground both in Sycamore and when called for mutual aid responses.
On August 31, 2016, representatives from Enbridge presented the Sycamore Fire Department with a check for $1,000 for the purchase of self contained breathing apparatus voice amplification equipment. The Sycamore Fire Department is extremely grateful of the support of Enbridge Energy Partners (EEP). Enbridge is a leader in the safe and reliable delivery of energy in North America. They transport, generate and distribute energy, operating the world’s longest, most sophisticated crude oil and liquids transportation system.
