During the summer, anyone planning to earn a GED credential will be eligible for a special GED Test promotion: a $10 discount. The special promotion is only available to first-time GED test-takers on their first subject area exam. Participating examinees must register for the test by August 1 and must take the test by August 31. Kishwaukee College is a GED test center.
To register to take the GED Test, examinees must create an account at www.ged.com. Once the examinee has created an account, registration for the GED can be completed online using the GED account and clicking on the “Schedule” box on the MyGED Dashboard. After scheduling the test, examinees will be directed to payment page on which they will be asked to pay $30 per test using a credit or debit card. In the “Voucher/Promotion Code Box” on the payment page, examinees should enter “GETSTARTED10” to receive their special $10 summer promotion discount. Examinees may also call Pearson Vue, national GED test administrator, at 1-877-392-6433 to schedule their GED test if they do not have access to the internet for the online registration process.
Examinees who have started testing but have not completed the entire GED test will be contacted via mail to encourage them to complete the GED test. Examinees who qualify will be eligible to receive voucher codes through email to assist with and encourage test completion.
The GED consists of four test areas: Science, Social Studies, Mathematical Reasoning, and Reasoning through Language Arts. The state of Illinois also requires examinees pass a Constitution Test to receive the Illinois High School Equivalency credential. The GED is now offered on computer and is available in both English and Spanish. Examinees with a documented disability may qualify for accommodations for GED Testing. For more information on testing accommodations, contact the Adult Education and Transition Programs at (815) 825-2086, ext. 3190.
