Spring Break project to speed, secure Internet could mean interruptions

Over spring break, the Division of Information Technology is wrapping up a major project to maximize the speed and security of NIU’s core network.

DoIT has scheduled the work at these times to minimize the impact on the NIU community.

Here’s how it could affect users:

• Saturday, March 12: Starting at 5 a.m., connectivity might be intermittent for campus buildings and wireless throughout the day.
• Wednesday, March 16: Starting at midnight, and continuing through the morning, NIU enterprise applications will have brief outages. It is possible but unlikely that there will be intermittent outages throughout the day as well.

Those users who are unable to log on to the Internet or NIU enterprise applications during these times are asked to try again later.
