Get in on the Sandwich Freedom Days Parade, Fireworks and the Freedom Run 5K/1 mile and so much more in Sandwich this weekend! The annual Independence Day parade kicks off the weekend on Saturday, July 2nd at 10:00AM. For the Parade Route Map, click here.
Saturday afternoon, get in on Kiddie Water Fights and then watch the Firefighter’s show everyone how water fights are done!
Then on Sunday the 33rd annual Freedom Run event will begin at James Knights Park, 1001 Latham Street on Sunday, July 3, 2016. The 1-mile fun run/walk will step off at 8:00A and the 5K race at 8:30A. Compete wearing your best patriotic costume! Judges will award a first place prize for the 1Mile and 5K race for best costume. These events are open to all who are physically fit and sufficiently trained.
This year the 5K runners will have a new race course. Both events are run over flat city streets. Registration forms are available at the David A. Francis Center, in Knights Park, or online at www.sandwichparkdistrict.org. Participants who register from June 20th to July 2nd, will receive an event t-shirt, size not guaranteed. Day of event registrants will receive a shirt while supplies last. Race will be Chip timed. 1 – Mile Fun Run/Walk $14 if registered before Saturday, June 18th. $22 – day of race (7:00-7:45am). 5K Race $20 if registered before Saturday, June 18th. $28 – Race of Day (7:00-7:45am) Download a map of the race course here.
Then on Sunday evening, watch the fireworks at the Sandwich Fairgrounds! The main gate opens at 6:00 for families to come in and set up. Fireworks will start at dark. A donation of $5 per car load is suggested at the door. Food will be available for purchase inside the grounds.
