This Saturday, July 5th, plan to visit Sandwich, in southern DeKalb County, for their annual 4th of July Parade. This year’s parade for the 4th of July weekend will kick off at 10am. Lineup for the parade will begin at the Sandwich Fairgrounds between 8:30 and 9:00am. The parade is sponsored by the Sandwich Park District. 4th of July Parade Entry Form
Sunday Morning, July 6th, 2014, is the Tot Trot, 1 Mile Fun Run and 5K Race. The is the 31st Annual race which is also called the ‘Sandwich Freedom Run’. All 3 running events will kick off at Knights Park, 1001 N. Latham St., in Sandwich, IL 60548. The Tot Trot begins at 7:45am. All pre-registrations are guaranteed a shirt. Late registrations will receive a shirt while supplies last.
The 1- Mile Fun Run/Walk begins at 8am and the 5K Race (3.1 miles) starts at 8:30am (check-in time 7am to 7:45am).
Both the 1- Mile Fun Run/Walk and the 5 K Race are run on city streets. There will be Aid stations and traffic control provided. New this year, this Race will be chip timed by Real Timing, Inc. for each individual runner. This is not a certified race. Refreshments will be provided following the races. Freedom Run Entry Form. On Sunday evening, plan to watch the Sandwich Fireworks at the Fairground, 1401 Suydam Rd. in Sandwich. Fireworks should begin at approximately 8:45 pm. They do ask for a $5 donation per car.
