The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that the IL 23-Union Pacific Railroad grade crossing south of DeKalb will be closed on Monday, June 1, 2015. IL 23 will be closed for approximately seven days to allow the Union Pacific Railroad to rebuild their crossing.
IL 23 traffic will proceed as follows:
IL 23 southbound traffic will proceed east on Fairview Drive to Peace Road; thence south on Peace Road to Gurler Road; thence west on Gurler Road back to IL 23.
IL 23 northbound traffic will proceed east on Gurler Road to Peace Road; thence north on Peace Road to Fairview Drive; thence west on Fairview Drive back to IL 23.
Please slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.

…and drivers making the turn onto Gurler can’t see their trailer tires at the half turn point. If they think it’s ok, they WILL ditch the trailer causing even more gridlock throughout the farm roads. You can’t just say, ok, all the semi’s go this way. It’s posted no semi’s for a reason. THEY CAN’T MAKE THE TURNS.

Expect long delays at Peace and Gurler then again at Gurler and 23. Only 1 truck at a time can make those turns and all cars must stay back 60 feet when a truck needs to turn.

Wouldn’t it be nice if this and the S. 1st street road work could wait until after school closes. Just saying….
