This week, Testing Services Corporation (TSC) will be performing Asphalt Core Testing
in DeKalb’s Ellwood neighborhood. TSC will be extracting pavement cores to examine the
subgrade layers. The condition of the subgrade layers will assist the City determine the
most cost-effective method of repair. TSC is contracted by the City to perform this work.
Residents of the Ellwood neighborhood will experience minimal disruptions. Road closures are not required. However, TSC will require a small work area to extract pavement cores. Signage and traffic cones will notify residents of their presence. Motorists are reminded to reduce speed and drive with care when approaching work areas.
The work will also be done on Ridge Drive between Bayfield Drive and First Street, and
on East Taylor Street between Seventh Avenue and Maplewood Avenue. Anyone with questions or concerns regarding this work may contact the Public Works Department at 815-748-2040.
