A brief but important power outage will begin Monday, Aug. 11, at DuSable, Reavis and Watson halls, according to Architecture and Engineering Services.
Crews expect to restore electricity either Wednesday, Aug. 13, or Thursday, Aug. 14.
Planned power outages are scheduled to accomplish work that cannot be completed while a live electrical load exists.
Typically, planned outages enable the electrical shop to address or prepare to address a somewhat urgent situation that, if left unattended, could well result in a future unplanned or uncontrolled electrical power outage of longer duration.
The purpose of these outages is to install new medium voltage cable and perform preventative maintenance on building switch gear in support of updating electrical infrastructure. The efforts and expense for this project are necessary and prudent to plan for continued stable electrical operations.
A backup generator will be available to sufficiently support each building.
