Bring your family to STEMfest, an annual event that helps kids explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). They are jam-packing NIU’s Convocation Center full of spooky, slimy, sciency fun for the whole family. Experience learning like never before with hands-on activities, presentations, games, and exhibits from local and national STEM professionals.
NIU STEM departments, student groups, regional corporations, museums, educators, and national labs are joining forces to present hundreds of activities that range in complexity to entertain people of all ages. The idea is to increase awareness of the critical role science and other STEM fields play in our world every day.
See the exhibitors such as NIU’s Davis Hall Observatory and The Cave of the Mounds. Experience hands-on activities such as navigating a laser maze. Get in on activities such as Creepy Chemistry, Haunted Physics Labs and cow eye dissections. There will also be competitions such as the Science Video contest and the Rube Goldberg Wacky Contraptions Poster contest
STEMfest will be held at the NIU Convocation Center, 1525 West Lincoln Highway, in DeKalb on Saturday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information contact Pati Sievert NIU STEM Outreach Coordinator 815-753-1201 or visit their website now.
