On Monday, June 4th Union Pacific closed the Rail Road crossing on South First Street for needed repairs. Repairs are scheduled to take approximately one week. Once repairs are completed at the South First Street crossing Union Pacific will move to the crossing at 10th Street to begin similar repairs.
The City of DeKalb began public improvements in Lots 2 & 3 last fall. Work in the lots included underground infrastructure repair, new & increased lighting, landscaping and resurfacing/repaving of the lots. Temperatures turned cold before paving was able to be completed. This spring paving was completed in both lots and they are happy to report all major construction in public lots 2 and 3 is complete.
The DeKalb Farmers’ Market will begin this Thursday, June 7th. The market will run every Thursday, June-September from noon-6pm in the Van Buer Plaza. The market will feature fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables, bedding plants, beautiful hanging baskets and fresh cut flowers, wine, cheese, gourmet meats, fresh baked goods, jams, jellies, pet treats, fresh roasted coffee, hand made jewelry and much more.
The Live Lunch Music series presented by the Egyptian Theatre will return for the third year. Bring your lunch, pick something up at the market, or grab lunch to-go from one of the many downtown restaurants and enjoy live music in the plaza while you eat from noon-1:30pm.
