
The third 2021 concert at the beautiful Ellwood House Museum ‘Music at the Mansion-Entertainment with the Stars’ in DeKalb (IL) will take place Wednesday, July 14th. This will be the “Juke Box at the Mansion” tribute show featuring “The Elderly Brothers.”
The Elderly Brothers (they aren’t that old) are a fun-time band that entertains with a song list that everybody knows and can sing along with (plus danceable). The unique soaring harmonies and instrumentation bring the old songs in a modern yet traditional style. The band pride itself on audience interaction and features over 50 songs that will please audiences from different eras. The members have played in various bands and entertaining for nearly 40 plus years. The band has performed at a variety of venues and events in the northern Illinois area including Whisky Acres, Franadas, and Kishwaukee Fest. Members includes: Ron Lofton, Guitar, Ukulele; Jason Shreeram, Bass Guitar; Chris Cochran, Guitar, Hamanoic; Oz Amaro, Drums. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the music. The main show act starts at 7:00 PM.
Opening Act will feature an extremely talented string ensemble, The Apollo Strings Quartet. The Apollo Strings Quartet is a highly gifted youth ensemble based out of Sugar Grove (IL). The foursome consists of 3 members of the musically talented Hwang family of Sugar Grove, and 1 member from Sycamore. The ensemble includes: Caleb Hwang (cello), a senior at Kaneland High School and a former member of the Chicago Youth Concert Orchestra. The other 2 family members are Aeryn Hwang (violin), a sophomore at Kaneland High, and Vienna Hwang (viola), an eighth-grade student at Kaneland Middle School. The fourth member of the group is Emma Fredericks (violin), a junior at Sycamore High School and current member of both the Sinfonia and Suzuki programs at NIU. The opening act starts at 6:30 PM. There will also be a mini ‘Classic Car Show’, featuring some 50s and 60s car show winners.
These concerts offer some of northern Illinois’ best entertainment, Ravinia style without the drive. There will be refreshments available to purchase. A nice selection of craft beers and wines to purchase hosted by Fatty’s Pub and Grille in DeKalb. There will be an opportunity to purchase food from Big D’s Hotdogs.
These concerts are free and are very family-friendly. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the show. Parking is available near the Ellwood Mansion (off Linden Place) as well as the Clinton Rosette school and Congregational United Church of Christ parking lots.
The July 14th concert will be honoring the DeKalb American Legion, the DeKalb Police Department, and the DeKalb Fire Department.
