Local farmer directs America’s Farmers Grow Communities Donation to Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture

Allan Aves, Kirkland farmer from DeKalb County, has been selected to direct a $2,500 donation from the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program of the Monsanto Fund to the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture.

The Foundation will use the donation for Ag in the Classroom programs in DeKalb County schools. “We appreciate Allan selecting our organization and the Monsanto Fund for providing this contribution,” said Mark Tuttle, DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation President. “The donation will be put to good use for Ag in the Classroom programs connecting students and teachers to farming and food.”

The Grow Communities program makes a positive impact in farming communities by partnering with farmers to support the causes that are important to them in their communities. Each year, farmers enter for a chance to win a $2,500 donation that they direct to a local nonprofit. Since the program began in 2010, farmers have directed more than $26 million in donations across a broad cross-section of organizations that reflect the makeup and character of rural America, including food banks, schools, youth agriculture programs and many others.
