Let’s face it- cleaning the kitchen is never going to be particularly fun! However, we have some nifty cleaning hacks that will help make this chore a snap!
- Hang cleaning products under the sink with a tension rod.
- Make a natural refrigerator cleanser with two parts water, one part white vinegar and some lemon. Give it a quick spray, and wipe off.
- Deep clean wooden cutting boards pouring salt on the board, and using a lemon as a sponge to scrub any residue, then rinse.
- Since you can’t clean cast iron with soap, clean off any residue with olive oil and sea salt. Scrub with a cloth, and rinse.
- Fix burnt pans by filling the bottom with water, adding a cup of white vinegar, bringing the pan to a boil, then adding 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Empty the pan and scour.
- Clean stainless steel appliances with flour. Apply flour to a rag, buff into appliance, wipe surface with a clean rag.
- Clean gas burners by placing them in a plastic bag with ammonia. Place on a baking sheet and leave outdoors overnights. Wipe clean with a damp sponge.
- Clean pans or casserole dishes with caked on food by placing a dryer sheet in the pan and filling with warm water. Soak for two hours and rinse.
- Use Lemonade Kool-Aid to clean your dishwasher. Pour a packet into the detergent cup and run the dishwasher- the citric acid eliminates lime deposits and wipes out iron stains.
- Keep your kitchen shelves clean with cling wrap. When it starts to get too dirty, simply peel it off and apply a new layer.
- Use a potato to clean your cheese grater. The coarseness of the potato will instantly get rid of any sticky cheese left behind.
- Sprinkle a few teaspoons of baking soda at the bottom of a trash can to keep it stink-free.
- Use a small pastry brush to get crumbs out of the toaster, then empty the tray.
- Freeze lemon slices in vinegar. Run a few cubes through your garbage disposal to keep it fresh.
- Mix baking soda and water to form a paste and use it to scrub the inside of your stove.
