Members of the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, now in its 39th season, plans to delight concert-goers once again with their annual Holiday Pops Concert: Winter Wonderland.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall of the NIU Music Building.
The KSO will play music of the holiday season, including contemporary and familiar traditional music and a singalong of holiday favorites.
Conductor Linc Smelser invites the children from the audience on stage for an interactive performance of Haydn’s “Toy Symphony,” making this concert a perfect introduction to live orchestral music.
Ensembles, including the NIU Suzuki Strings program, the Kishwaukee Brass Quintet and the DeKalb High School Madrigals, will perform before and after the concert and during intermission in the concert hall lobby.
Refreshments will be served afterward. This concert is supported in part by the George E. and Betty B. Dutton Foundation.
Tickets are available at the door 30 minutes before the concert begins. All seats are general admission. Individual ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 62 and older, and a special discounted price of $5 students with a school ID card and for children younger than 12.
