The Kishwaukee Fest Parade will be this Friday evening, July 25, 2014 beginning at 7pm. This will be the 4th Annual Kishwaukee Fest Parade and each year has shown a significant increase in people attending. Who doesn’t like tons of free family fun in downtown DeKalb on a Friday night!
The pre-parade classic car and vintage motorcycle show will start at 6:30 p.m. Owners of classic vehicles will stage at N. First and Hillcrest and proceed along the parade route, then park in the downtown area to showcase their motorcycles and cars. The parade will step off at 7 p.m., arriving downtown about 7:30 p.m.
The new parade route will start on North First Street at Hillcrest Drive, head south to Lincoln Highway, and proceed east to Third Street. The parade will turn north and end on Locust Street. The new community neighborhood section will be on First Street, allowing citizens to park in the various lots near North First street and allowing the many apartment dwellers to invite guests to tailgate before and during the parade.
After the parade, bands that played in the parade will perform for a street dance in several places around the downtown area. Stroker Red will play outside O’Leary’s and The Barb City Stompers will play outside Eduardos.
