(DeKalb) – Learn the basics of hand mending to repair your worn items in this informative workshop at the DeKalb Public Library on Sunday, June 8, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.!
Feel free to bring a piece of worn clothing to be assessed and repaired in this workshop. Samples will be provided to learn techniques before tackling your personal items.
Areas we will cover:
- Sewing on a button (flat and shank style)
- Ladder stitch for split seams
- Whip stitch and blanket stitch for reinforcement
- Darning (for wovens and knits)
- Iron-on patches for larger holes
- Guide for removing stains and laundering
No registration is required; however, space and supplies may be limited to first come, first served. This program is intended for teens and adults and will be held in the 309 Creative makerspace.
