NIU’s Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning will host a graduate school prep seminar and GRE workshops this spring.
The Graduate School Prep Seminar, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, provides valuable information to those people who are preparing for, or exploring the option of going to, graduate school.
Topics include finding a graduate or professional school, applying to graduate school, the GRE and other tests, creating personal profiles and more.
Students will have the privilege of receiving advice and resources from a variety of NIU’s colleges and departments. The seminar in Altgeld Hall 125 includes lunch, resource materials and a chance to win prizes, including a GRE fee waiver.
Registration is available online. Seating is limited to 40. Names of people who register after the 40 seats are booked will be put on a wait list. Registrants must RSVP by paying $5 no later than one week before the event. To reserve a seat, register and pay cash or check by Friday, Feb. 5. Those who fail to to RSVP by that date will lose their seats to those next in line.
The GRE workshops – students can attend from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Feb. 19, or from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10 – cover what the GRE is, the sections offered and basic study questions. Both sessions take place in Altgeld 125.
