DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to approximately 50 assist motorist and accidents between 3:30pm and 7:30pm Monday evening, January 26th, 2015, due to freezing rain. Accidents were located throughout the whole county. Overall, they handled approximately 16 personal injury accidents, none of which appeared to be life threatening, 19 property damage accidents and 14 driver in the ditch at the time of this press release (8:15pm). Eight of the accidents were rollover accidents.
Both the City of Sycamore and the City of DeKalb Police Departments also reported slippery conditions during that period of time, causing accidents all over the area, including a downed wire across Lincoln Hwy near the 1300 Block of E Lincoln Hwy at approximately 3:50 p.m, when a vehicle lost control and hit a utility pole.
