Kishwaukee United Way, the DeKalb County Community Foundation, and the NIU Holmes Student Center are working together to present a learning opportunity to nonprofit staff, volunteers and interested community members. A local Nonprofit Day will be held this Wednesday, July 21st, from 8:30 am – 2:00 pm in the Illinois Room of the Holmes Student Center at NIU.
Interested representatives are invited to join the activities for all or part of the day. Nine breakout sessions will include conversations about e-communications, advocacy, strategic vision & branding, grant writing, assessment tools, and more. The lunch hour will feature a nonprofit vendor fair allowing local nonprofit representatives to talk with staff from banks, caterers, and other businesses. The day’s keynote speaker will be Judith Hermanson, director of NIU’s newly created Center for NGO Leadership and Development (NGOLD). Judith will discuss her vision for the Center and will share ways in which the center will conduct outreach to nonprofits—from local organizations in DeKalb County to international NGOs.
The workshop is free, but organizers are asking attendees to contact Deanna Cada at the DeKalb County Community Foundation at 815.748.5383 or at Deanna@dekalbcountyfoundation.org for more information and/or to pre-register. Free parking for the event is available in the visitor’s lot at NIU. This event will be a great opportunity for local nonprofit staff, volunteers and interested visitors to network and share thoughts and ideas about work at a nonprofit organization.
