First Street Road Closure in DeKalb

Update Monday, August 7, 2017:

FIRST STREET ROAD CLOSURES UPDATE

Due to safety concerns, southbound lanes on First Street between Lincoln Highway (IL
38) and Franklin Street will close on Tuesday August 8, 2017 in addition to the
scheduled northbound lane closures. This morning, the contractor informed the City
that the existing manhole requires replacement. To perform the work, the contractor
must excavate twelve feet deep. The depth poses several safety challenges, thus the
required southbound lane closure. The City expects the closure to remain in place for
one day only. Southbound traffic will resume by Tuesday evening. Northbound traffic
will continue to be detoured for the remainder of the week.

Due to necessary utility work, the First Street northbound lanes between Lincoln
Highway (IL 38) and Franklin Street will close, beginning Monday, August 7, 2017. The
road closures will continue through Friday, August 11, 2017. Southbound lanes will
remain open with intermittent traffic controls for passing construction equipment.
Closures will remain in place overnight. The City asks resident to proceed with caution.
Surrounding local businesses will remain open during the closures.
