The Ellwood House Museum has combined two popular summer traditions – Art at Ellwood and the Ice Cream Social – into a single day of events on the grounds of the historic mansion. That day is this Sunday, August 3rd, 2014, from 9am until 4pm.
Over thirty artists from around the Midwest will exhibit and sell their work on the mansion’s front lawn in such media as paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry, and fiber arts. Later in the afternoon, the DeKalb Municipal band will kick-off their annual concert on the museum’s terrace. Ice cream, food, and refreshments will be available starting at 11:00am.
First floor tours of the Ellwood Mansion and the Ellwood-Nehring House will be available on an ongoing basis 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Tickets available at the Visitor Center. The Kish Health System has sponsored an Ellwood Explorers Health and History Tour for youth (ages 6 – 12) to operate at 11:00 am – 2:00 pm every hour, on the hour. The Health and History Tour will start at the Visitor Center.
The DeKalb Area Garden Club will showcase plants and related garden information at the Visitor Center during the Art Fair & Ice Cream Social.
Visitors are permitted to bring lawn chairs for the musical performances at the Art Fair & Ice Cream Social. On-site parking at the Ellwood House Museum is limited. Please utilize legal street parking near the museum, and join the community for an exciting day of art, music, and history. The Ellwood House is located at 509 N. 1st St., in DeKalb.
