Dining in the Dark is a unique dining experience where guests will face one of the many challenges confronted by those suffering vision loss on a daily basis: eating a meal in total darkness. The keynote speaker will be the reigning Mrs. World, April Lufriu. You will hear her story about how she has decided to cope with her and her two young children’s recent diagnoses of an eye disease that will eventually lead to blindness if treatments and cures are not found.
Dining in the Dark will be held this Thursday, April 26th from 6-9pm. At 6 pm will be cocktail hour and Silent Auction raffle items. Dinner will be at 7pm and program begins at 8pm. Silent auction/raffle items secured to date include: Official NFL football autographed by Chicago Bears star Julius Peppers; Rental of 20-yard dumpster from Allied Waste Company; Necklace from Becky Beck Jewelry; Assortment of lotions and candle from Studio One, DeKalb; A “pool party” for up to 20 children at Energym; Arrangement from Kar-Fre Flowers, Sycamore. Tickets for this unique event are $50/person and must be secured by today, Monday, April 23rd. All proceeds to benefit The Foundation Fighting Blindness.
